An equine Obstacle Challenge is a competitive event, where a horse and rider combo will face and navigate through a course of  various obstacles with accuracy.

 

With CSHA obstacle challenges, every rider can improve their riding skills, build confidence, and demonstrate a partnership with your horse.  Obstacle challenge is different from Trail Trials, in that these courses are within an arena or smaller space where riders may not be able to go out on an 8-10 mile ride.  Our events can be ridden with any breed of horse or mule and any discipline of riding.

 

Through education and experience, Obstacle Challenges can be a fun and rewarding experience for your horse. Each obstacle can consist of pulling objects, crossing water and/or bridges, facing flashy and spinning items, gates, etc. Some obstacles are combined to create one large fun experience. 

 

We offer youth, novice, intermediate, and advanced classes which qualify riders for SOCC and year end awards.  In 2025, we will be including in-hand classes and an open event for those who may not be well versed in this discipline, or getting your young horse accustomed to situations where they may react in a spooky manner.   You do not need to be a member to ride and all levels of riders are welcome.
